Shining mosaics are crafted from semi-transparent or opaque molten glass tesserae, featuring a striking iridescent effect. This unique shimmer is achieved by adding semi-precious metals to the glass while it is still in a semi-liquid state, following the same production process as the Vitreo and Brillante collections. Made with up to 55% post-consumer recycled glass, Shining mosaics offer both sustainability and beauty.
Unlike surface-applied films that can peel over time, the iridescent effect in Shining mosaics is an integral part of the glass, ensuring its durability. This special metallic effect, with distinctive tone-on-tone colouring, adds a refined, shimmering quality to any design. The iridescent finish is permanent and unaffected by water, making these mosaics perfect for use in wet areas like swimming pools or showers. They are also resistant to chemical agents, temperature fluctuations, and heavy use.
Shining mosaics can be installed on both floors and vertical surfaces, indoors or outdoors. The small size of the tesserae and the frequency of joints provide a naturally slip-resistant surface, adding safety to style. While the mosaic is waterproof, it is still necessary to waterproof the foundation substrate for swimming pools and other water-based installations to ensure long-lasting protection.
