LIN-X1000 - Lateral Opening Door System

Big doors take up a lot of space when they're swinging out towards you - especially when big can be up to 1.1m wide, 2.9m tall and 90kgs!
Sugatsune have fixed this problem with their lateral opening LIN-X1000, a redesign of the classic model to work on bigger, heavier doors. The LIN-X range of hinges is a parallel opening door mechanism which opens smoothly out and to the side (see images).

The LIN-X1000 has won the Good Design Award 2016 and Red Dot Award 2017, praised for its ingenuity, quality and easy of use.

Not only does the LIN-X1000 eliminate the hassle when using doors in corridors or tight spaces, but it also changes the way you can use corner units, making it much easier to reach all the previously hard to reach space (see diagram in photos), and it can be used in places that require wheelchair access for greater accessibility. An advantage over sliding doors is that no track is required, top or bottom, giving a much cleaner appearance and requiring less maintenance.

The built in damper ensures even the heaviest, 90kg doors close smoothly and silently, and as it doesn't have many components it remains simple to install - it can even be adjusted in 4 different directions: Up/down, left/right, backwards/forwards and the angle.
