R51+ Metal Floor Deck

by Structural Metal Decks

The original R51 profile has been part of the SMD shallow floor deck suite since the early 1990s, and with improved structural efficiency, the R51+ has taken it's place.

The R51+ offers the same core benefits as its predecessor; excellent slab load carrying capacity, shallow slab depth option (100mm minimum for 1-hour fire rating) and flexibility for shear stud placement due to 150mm trough spacings. However, it now comes in S350 and S450 grades and thicknesses from 0.8mm to 1.2mm.

A traditional re-entrant profile and is commonly used on inner city high Multi-Storey projects where the structural zone is limited, due to the relatively thin slab depth required to achieve a typical one-hour fire rating.

Benefits:
- 102 mm minimum slab depth, whilst still achieving one hour fire rating.
- Wide flat trough provides flexibility for shear stud placement.
- Soffit 'wedge nut' fixings available with load capacity of up to 2 kN.
- With minimal voids in the concrete section allowing dense slabs to be constructed, providing good sound insulation.
- Fire rating up to four hours.
- Acoustic robust solution.

SMD Complete Composite Floor Solution:

SMD can provide a 'one-stop' floor solution providing the decking, shear studs, reinforcement and concrete in one package using dedicated floor laying teams co-ordinated by the same site manager that oversees the decking and shear stud installation. Consult with manufacturer for details.
