Tactile Paving

Tactile paving is a system of textured, ground surface indicators found in many pubic areas, to assist pedestrians who are blind or visually impaired. Tactile warnings provide a distinctive surface pattern, such as bumps or ridges, which are used to alert people of their approach to potentially dangerous surroundings such as road crossings or hazardous drop-offs. Forest Pennant can create and provide all three types of tactile paving: barfaced, blister and corduroy.

Blister

Forest Pennant s Blister finish identifies a safe place to cross and a dropped kerb for blind or partially sighted people. It can be easily incorporated into a project without affecting the aesthetics.

Barfaced

Forest Pennant s Barfaced finish increases the anti-slip properties of the paving slabs, making it an ideal choice for areas with an incline or access ramp. Again this finish does not diminish the desired look of a project.

Corduroy

A corduroy finish identifies to blind and partially impaired pedestrians that a hazard is present and to proceed with care. This finish is usually applied for paving that leads on to stairs/steps, areas that are shared with cyclists and level crossings.
