Head Restraints

Fixed Head Restraint:

By fixing the tops of free standing masonry walls, unstable lateral movements can be restrained. Installing stainless steel fixed head restraints accommodates any vertical movements caused by expansion/ contraction of materials. Restraints are used for internal or inner- leaf cavity walls and are universal for 100 mm and 140 mm thicknesses.

Sliding Head Restraint:

Sliding Head Restraints are telescopic concealed anchors providing shear restraint to the wall head of non load bearing walls whilst allowing differential movement between the structure above and the masonry below. A friction grip assembly facilitates masonry construction by holding the built- in sleeve in a raised position while laying the masonry below. The product features masonry embedment markings to indicate 25 mm clearance to soffits above. Supplied with either slotted (SHRS) or holed (SHRH) anchorage. Depth to suit a standard 215 mm block, other depths available to special order.

Performance:
- Declared load: Fixed head, 5.05 kN; Sliding head, 4.5 kN.
- Tested by CERAM with maximum declared load calculation based on the required performance of a shear tie as given in BS EN 845- 1: Specification for ancillary components for masonry Part 1: Ties, tension straps, hangers and brackets.
