Multitrack NW8 100gsm is a thermally bonded, non-woven polypropylene geotextile membrane designed to provide separation and filtration within the ground. It is a permeable fleece, meaning water passes through freely while fine particles such as clay, silt and sand are retained below.
In practical use, NW8 is laid between the sub-grade and aggregate layers to stop fines migrating upwards. Without a geotextile membrane, sub-bases gradually become contaminated, drainage performance reduces, and surfaces begin to rut or deform. NW8 maintains a clean interface between layers, helping the overall build-up perform as intended over time.
At 100gsm, this membrane is intended for light to medium duty applications where ground conditions are reasonable and loads are predictable. It is not designed for heavy traffic, commercial vehicle loading, or aggressive recycled aggregates. On weak sub-grades, deeper excavations, or higher loadings, a heavier non-woven membrane should be specified to improve puncture resistance and durability.
Please note that these product properties are not a replacement for the manufacturer's literature and it is always recommended that EcoGrid Limited is consulted before specifying.

Yes. It is commonly used beneath MOT Type 1 to separate the sub-base from clay or soil. It is suitable for cars and light vehicles where ground conditions are stable.
Yes. NW8 is suitable for trench lining and wrapping drainage stone to help prevent silt from entering perforated pipes.
No. It is intended for light to medium duty use. Heavier traffic, weak sub-grades or sharp aggregates usually require a higher weight non-woven membrane.
It can be used as a preventative layer beneath gravel or hard landscaping. It must be covered and is not designed to be left exposed.
Allow at least 300mm overlap on firm ground and up to 500mm on softer or uneven sub-grades.
